The Purge
‎1hr 25min‎‎ – Scifi/Fantasy/Suspense/Thriller‎‎ – English‎
Director: James DeMonaco – Cast: Lena Headey, Ethan Hawke, Max Burkholder, Edwin Hodge,Rhys Wakefield, Tony Oller, Adelaide Kane, Tom Yi
In a futuristic America plagued by crime, the government sanctions a 12-hour period once a year in which all criminal activity is legal. When an intruder breaks into the home of James Sandin and his family, they must try to survive the night without compromising their personal moral code.
With the details out of the way lets get on with my thoughts and the actual reason you are here the review.  I did enjoy this movie however, it did take a little bit before it really got interesting (and by that of course I mean the actual purging) Unfortunately, while I did enjoy the movie there was also some downfalls. The dialogue was forced and unrealistic, this isn’t much for some people because in a suspenseful/horror flick people go mainly to get a fright and don’t really pay attention to what is being said by characters. There were also a few plot holes that left more questions then answers such as a weapons restriction during the purge that left me wondering what class each weapon was? (and yes, if you know please share) The last real downfall was in the conflicts which were mostly in the moral aspect which were never really resolved. some people died some didn’t and we were left wondering why in the end. I assume there is a reason but I guess only time can tell.
Over all I can’t really say the move was bad, I did enjoy it. For those of you that are looking for the perfect story line with the perfect ending and resolution do not go see this movie for those of you that want a few good suspenseful moments with a few frightening scenes this movie would be a good choice. Personally if you are still unsure I would wait until release of the movie on DVD or whatever your method as it really wouldn’t be worth spending box office dollars for.
  1. Good post. I learn something new and challenging on websites I stumbleupon every day. It will always be helpful to read through articles from other writers and use a little something from other web sites.
